President George W. Bush said Thursday after talks with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, referring to the UN-backed treaty on cutting emissions that expires in 2012. The US was ready to take the leading role in an international initiative to fight climate change. But he insisted that China and India must be involved in any deal to cut the emissions that cause global warming.

John Ray said, Enron's board chairman. Enron Creditors Recovery Corp. said that Swiss investment bank UBS AG had agreed to pay the bankrupt energy merchant $115 mil in cash to settle an equity transactions adversary suit that Enron filed. UBS also will withdraw, with prejudice, its about-$5-mil claim against Enron's bankruptcy estate, Enron said.
