Dear Sir/Madam,
Energy, the theme of
www.servian.hu,
is vitally important to us all. Like most European countries,
Hungary imports the majority of its fuel from abroad. A continuous
supply is indispensable for ensuring the functioning of the economy
– for transportation and haulage, for providing heat and light, and
for living a normal life in general. Is Hungary’s energy policy
capable of guaranteeing this supply? Is it capable of reducing the
current high level of dependence? How can we save energy, and
improve the efficiency of its usage?
The composition of the fuels used to
generate energy is also important. The burning of coal, oil and
natural gas releases large quantities of what are known as
greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This is causing increasingly
alarming changes to our climate, and potentially catastrophic global
warming. How can these dangers be reduced?
The 27 member states of the European
Union – including Hungary – are jointly seeking an answer to these
questions.
A key role in reducing dependence on
energy imports, as well as the extent of carbon-dioxide and other
harmful emissions, and in the curbing of global warming, is played
by what are known as renewable energy sources, such as wind,
hydro-electric power and geothermal energy, as well as biomass and
biofuels, which do not pollute the atmosphere and can also be
produced here in Hungary. Increasing the ratios in which these
energy sources are used also stimulates technological advancement
and the creation of new jobs, while also helping to make use of
surplus agricultural crops.
The
www.servian.hu
website deals with these and other questions related to energy
policy. It provides daily news from the nations of the European
Union, as well as updates on common EU energy policies, but also
keeps its readers abreast of events in other countries around the
world. It provides information about decisions, articles and
conferences related to the subject of energy.
The site regularly publishes video
interviews with key politicians, specialists and researchers.
Besides all this, it gives readers the opportunity to submit their
own questions, to be answered by leading specialists, and we are
always happy to receive and publish information from energy users
regarding the most important developments.
The site offers advertising
opportunities for businesses.
We are confident that the information
provided by the site will be useful to energy-policy advisors and
decision-makers, as well as to companies, manufacturers,
distributors and users with an interest in renewable energy. We are
also an important source of news for the industry media. We hope
that the site will contribute to forming public opinion, and
promoting environmental awareness.
