DOE Research Funding in dollars per person-year

On average DOE predicts the price will fall to around $46 in 2014 then gradually climb to  $57 in 2030. That's an OK prediction, but you can be sure there will be a lot of wild swings on the way. The swings are actually more of a problem then the average price of oil

One problem is the US has almost No Energy Policy!!
Solar, wind and biomass (ethanol) research are funded at the rate of $1.13 per person per year, and that's all together. That's not a policy, it's a bad joke.

Spending on Energy Programs

Only $1.13 per year. That's all that DOE spends from each of us for research on new solar, wind, and biomass (ethanol) energy technologies combined. This is not DOE's fault. They always ask for more, but their budget is proposed by the President and passed by Congress. Some way to fight "oil addiction" and achieve "energy independence." They're not even trying.

What we spend
DOE spends 2/3 of it's budget on nuclear weapons.

What it spends on wind, one of the most promising new energy technologies, comes to just 15¢ per person per year.
