Singapore confirms its commitment to developing
Sustainable Energy across Asia
14th May, 2007, Singapore (News Release) Concerns about the effects of global warming and climate change have recently led the island nation of Singapore, a signatory to the Climate Change Convention, to accede to the Convention's Kyoto Protocol. At this important time, Singapore will host the Sustainable Energy Week (12-15 June 2007), gathering together corporations and industries who are promoting renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean technology development, clean development mechanisms and carbon emissions trading. Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Dr Amy Khor, chairs the National Climate Change Committee at the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and will open the proceedings, addressing Singapore's increased commitment to tackling climate change. She will be joined on the podium by Joseph Hui, Director-General (Environmental Protection), National Environment Agency; Edwin Khew, Chairman of The Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) and Nominated Member of Parliament and 100+ senior business leaders from across the global clean energy industries.
