Washington, D.C. – Monday, November 05, 2007 EPA to Hold Hearing on Amendments to Petroleum Refinery Rule, Give Public Additional Time to Comment Contact: Margot Perez-Sullivan 202-564-4355 / perezsullivan.margot@epa.gov (Washington, D.C. – November 5, 2007) EPA will hold a public hearing Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 in Houston to take comment on proposed amendments to the agency’s 1995 air toxics standards for petroleum refineries. The amendments, proposed in August, address the residual risk and eight-year technology reviews required for air toxics standards. Air toxics, also known as hazardous air pollutants, are known or suspected to cause cancer and other health problems. The hearing will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 9 p.m. at the Hartman Park Community Center, 9311 Avenue P. To register to speak, please contact Debra Lee at (919)541-0860 or lee.debra@epa.gov.
