Rocky Mountain Power fined nearly $500M
Nov. 9
Rocky Mountain Power LLC has settled clean air violations at its
coal-fired Hardin Generating Station in Montana, which included $450,800
penalty.
MDU Resources Group, which owned the 116-megawatt plant in Hardin, Mont.,
during the time of the violations, agreed to pay the fine. It sold the
facility to Bicent Power LLC in July.
The Montana Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality permit
to the plant Jan. 24, 2006. From the third quarter of 2006 to the fourth
quarter of 2007, the plant documented some 329 exceeded its one-hour sulfur
dioxide emissions limit, which was 182.6 pounds per hour.
