EU will 'probably' delay Climate Change package to
January
London (Platts)--19Oct2007
The European Commission will "probably" delay the unveiling of its
Climate Change Package until January 2008, according to a spokeswoman for
the
Commission's Environment Directorate.
The energy and climate package, which includes the Commission's Review of
the EU Emissions Trading Scheme together with details of its Climate Change
Program and its renewable energy package until 2020, was expected to be
unveiled on December 5.
The spokeswoman said there were no particular elements of the package
that had caused a delay in its publication, and would not confirm reports
that
there were disagreements over the "burden-sharing" element of the climate
change program.
"The work is so enormous and December 5 was very ambitious," the
spokeswoman added.
