Mid America opens
single-stream facility in Texas Sept. 17 Mid America Recycling Co. is launching its newest single-stream recycling facility in Garland, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. Operating under the name Vista Fibers, the facility encompasses 150,000 square feet with 33 dock doors and two 70-foot truck scales. The recycling system was built jointly by Mid America´s engineering division and Bollegraaf Recycling Machinery, a manufacturer of machines for the recycling industry worldwide. The plant´s total capacity will exceed 10,000 tons per month. The city of Dallas awarded Vista Fibers-Dallas a contract in 2006 to handle the city´s single-stream recycling program. Mid America plans to consolidate its two existing commercial recycling operations into the new Garland facility.
