Wave Fuel Go Ahead

Sep 17 - Daily Mirror

The world's first giant wave farm for generating renewable energy will today get final approval.

Enterprise minister John Hutton will announce the pounds 28million Wave Hub - a two and a half mile seabed socket which firms "plug in to" to test wave energy devices.

The Hub, 10 miles of Hayle in Cornwall, will generate electricity for 7,500 homes, 1,800 jobs and pounds 560million in the economy over the next 25 years.

Regional Development chief Juliet Williams said: "The South West will lead the world in the development of wave technology."
