Bush says global oil production not keeping pace with demand

New York (Platts)--29Apr2008

US President George W. Bush Tuesday pegged high gasoline prices in part
on global oil production not keeping pace with demand and tight refining
capacity in the US.

Bush made the comments during a press briefing, televised live from the
White House.

He blamed the Democratic-controlled Congress for failing to act to ease
energy prices in the US, saying legislators are quick to call on other
countries to produce more oil, but will not do anything to accomplish the same
at home, including opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

"Congress needs to clear away obstacles to more affordable energy here at
home," Bush said.
