Clean energy talks between US DOE, India to start next week

Washington (Platts)--28Mar2008

The US Department of Energy will send a delegation to India to meet with
leading Indian energy companies to increase the use of biofuels and increase
energy efficiency programs in the US and India.

DOE undersecretary Clarence "Bud" Albright plans to speak during a
meeting of the US-India Energy Dialogue, which Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman
launched in 2005 with Montek Singh Ahluwalia, deputy chairman of the Planning
Commission of India.

Kathy Fredriksen, DOE's acting assistant secretary for policy and
international affairs, and John Mizroch, DOE's deputy assistant secretary for
energy efficiency and renewable energy, are traveling to India as part of the
US delegation, the agency said.

The US-India Energy Dialogue established five working groups--oil and
gas, coal, power and energy efficiency, new technologies and renewable energy,
and nuclear power--along with a steering committee to provide oversight.

It aims to promote increased trade and investment in the energy sector by
working with the public and private sectors to further identify areas of
cooperation and collaboration.
