New Radioactive Waste Storage Facility Will Open
at Chernobyl in April

A new radioactive waste storage facility near the Chernobyl nuclear power
plant will be opened in April, Ukrainian Emergencies Minister Volodymyr
Shandra said on Friday.
"In April we will open the first section of the Vektor facility capable of
storing up to 500,000 tons of radioactive waste," the minister told a press
conference in Kyiv.
Only Ukrainian radioactive waste will be stored at the facility, he said.
