Ohio lawmakers pass renewable energy measure
April 28
Ohio legislators have passed a bill requiring that the state generate
12.5 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
The bill, passed by both the state House and Senate, awaits Gov. Ted
Stricklandīs signature, which he is expected to give. Benchmarks call for
electricity generated by renewable energy to increase from 0.25 percent in
2009 to 12.5 percent in 2025.
Twenty-five states and the District of Columbia have enacted mandatory
renewable energy standards.
