US retail gasoline price up 5.7 cents to record

The average price of US retail gasoline climbed 5.7 cents to a record
$3.389/gal for the week ended April 14, the Energy Information
Administration
said Monday.
The price beat the prior all-time high of $3.332/gal set last week.
Monday's national average was 51.3 cents/gal higher than the
corresponding week a year earlier.
The biggest jump and highest average price occurred on the West Coast, by
8.4 cents to $3.662/gal, EIA reported.
East Coast prices rose 5.1 cents to $3.389/gal, while Midwest prices
jumped 5.9 cents to $3.358/gal, EIA said.
Gulf Coast prices climbed 3.2 cents to $3.285/gal, EIA said. Prices in
the Rocky Mountain region rose 5.7 cents to $3.324/gal, the agency said.
EIA each Monday publishes average US retail prices for all three grades
of gasoline. The data is collected by telephone from a sample of 800 retail
gasoline outlets. The reported price includes all taxes and is the pump
price
paid by a consumer as of 8 am ET Monday.
