AWWA Explores Cyber Security In The Water Industry

Denver, CO — To help professionals in the water sector address vulnerabilities and reduce risks to their industrial control systems, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) will host the webcast "Cyber Security: Roadmap for the Water Sector" at 1 p.m. EDT, Sept. 3.

The modern control systems and communications technologies being used in the water industry have become cyber-vulnerable. The webcast will include an introduction to cyber security tools and solutions, and an overview of the "Roadmap to Secure Control Systems in the Water Sector." A vision for cyber security in the water sector also will be covered, and attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the panel of speakers.

Webcast presenters will include:

  • Seán McGurk, Director, Control Systems Security Program, National Cyber Security Division, Department of Homeland Security.
  • Dave Edwards, Chief Information Officer, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
  • Patrick Ellis, IT Director/CISO, Broward County Water and Wastewater.
