N.J. company produces more electricity than it consumes

A New Jersey construction company says its headquarters is producing more electricity than it consumes.

The 41,508-sq.-ft. building for Ferreira Construction in Branchburg, N.J., has office and garage space and uses a photovoltaic system as well as a solar hot water system.

After two years in the building, the company said its solar energy system has generated 21,120 kilowatt hours of electricity beyond the building’s needs. That is equal to about one month’s worth of electric consumption, the company said.
