Cigarette litter drops 46% for communities in program

Dec. 15

Cigarette litter has dropped by 46% in communities participating in a Keep America Beautiful program that targets the problem.

The effort, now in its sixth year, has been implemented in 186 locations around the country this year.

"As we continue to see significant reductions in cigarette butt litter through this program, we hope that more and more Americans understand that cigarette butts dropped on the ground are indeed litter," said Matthew McKenna, president of Keep America Beautiful.
