Egypt to Provide Gaza Strip With Electricity

The Electricity and Power Sector has finished the study on the establishment of a giant power line by 220 kilovolt to provide Gaza Strip with electricity from the Egyptian network after receiving approval of the countries participating in the electric link project for Arab western and eastern countries financed by the Islamic Development Bank. Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Hassan Younes said that Egypt and the Arab countries participating in the project are keen to join the Palestinian lands, unlinked to other Arab networks, to the project in order to provide Palestinian people with electricity. Dr. Mohamed Awad, Head of the Holding Company for Egypt's Electricity said that this project coincides with the separation of Gaza electricity network from the Israeli one as a condition to join the Arab project. He added that the project has achieved a great success among Arab countries.
