Spain: Nuclear Plant Suffers Setback

Jul 15 - United Press International

Officials say a nuclear power plant in Spain has suffered its fourth technical failure in two weeks, raising concern about the country's energy infrastructure.

The Confrentes nuclear power station in Valencia had its power reduced by 30 percent during the most recent failure before technicians could make repairs, El Pais newspaper reported Tuesday.

The weekend setback at the station followed last week's failure at Confrentes, which prompted officials to sound a pre-emergency warning.

Spanish nuclear energy officials however maintain there is no risk for residents living near the plant.
