Status and Outlook: New Rules of the California Climate Regime

July 22, 2008 (News Release)

Large-scale mandatory climate control regimes are on the verge of being implemented in California, soon to be followed across much of the western United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Climate Control Regimes in California and the West Conference, September 17 – 19, 2008, San Francisco, CA will bring together leading industry representatives and regulators to discuss the new California and the Western climate control regimes. They will provide the latest information on the rules emerging to govern allowance allocation and trading, as well as offset protocols and markets.

The conference will examine not only opportunities to profit in North America carbon markets, but also how the new regime will affect the operations and profitability of existing carbon emitters in the electric generation, cement, petrochemical and transportation industries.

A symposium, “GHG Emissions Control Regime: Impacts on Power Generation” will precede the conference on September 17.
