Electronics producer Kyocera sets GHG reduction goals
May 27
Electronics maker Kyocera Corp. is launching its latest "environment and
safety promotion plan" that includes greenhouse gas emissions reduction
goals.
The company wants to reduce such emissions by 44 percent per unit by fiscal
year 2010 when compared to 1990 levels. That figure jumps to 50 percent by
fiscal year 2012 and 65 percent by fiscal year 2017, the Kyoto, Japan-based
company said.
To help meet those goals, the company will implement energy saving measures
for production equipment and use solar power generation systems and high
efficiency refrigerators, for example.
The plan also is being expanded beyond operations in Japan to include the
company’s overseas operations.
"As part of its environmental protection activities, Kyocera is developing a
number of approaches for all regions focusing on the locales of its plants
and business premises," said Hisashi Sakumi, general manager of Kyocera
Corporate Environment and Education Group.
