Minnesota joins national curbside recycling program

May 28

Minnesota has joined the national Curbside Value Partnership program to increase recycling in the state.

The Recycling Association of Minnesota and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will distribute educational and advertising materials to residents throughout the state, encouraging them to take advantage of curbside recycling opportunities.

The CVP will work more closely with St. Louis County, McLeod County and the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, which represents Duluth, Minn., to improve collection. The Aluminum Association and the Can Manufacturer´s Institute fund the CVP, which engages communities, haulers, processors and other stakeholders to improve curbside recycling programs. It studies programs to determine how to improve their participation through education to make them more profitable and sustainable.
