Honda cuts amount of waste generated by almost 80%

American Honda Motor Co. Inc. has cut the amount of waste generated for each automobile produced by almost 80 percent since 2001, the company said.

Honda is out with its new environmental performance report, including the fact that six of Honda´s plants in North America have achieved a zero waste-to-landfill designation.

Overall, the company cut waste the amount of waste sent to landfills to an average of 1.9 kilograms per vehicle.

"Next year will mark the first 50 years of Honda´s operations in North America. As we look forward to the next half-century, we are fundamentally assessing the value we bring to our customers and the communities where we do business, and rededicating ourselves to our goal of preserving ´blue skies for our children,´" said Tetsuo Iwamura, chief operating officer of Honda´s North American Regional Operation.
