GENERA'09 GROWS BY 56% IN COMPANY PARTICIPATION AND 48% IN NET
SURFACE AREA.
* Three months
since its start, 402 companies have confirmed their participation
which represents a 56% increase in the number of direct exhibitors.
* The trade
fair's international presence is strengthened with 171 exhibitors
attending from 17 countries which accounts for 30% of the total
exhibition area.
The twelfth
edition of the Energy and Environment International Trade Fair
organised by IFEMA will see the best results in its history and
confirms the upward trend that the event has experienced in recent
years making it the sector's main meeting place for energy efficiency
and renewable energy technologies.
The growing
interest in this sector will result in a significant increase in the
number of exhibitors. The total number of participating companies in
2008 was 258 direct exhibitors as opposed to GENERA'09 which has
already closed stand bookings at 402 exhibitors at the beginning of
February which accounts for a 55.8% increase in direct participation.
The remarkable
rise in participating companies is reflected in the size of the
exhibition space at the twelfth edition of the Energy and Environment
International Trade Fair. GENERA'09 currently occupies 15,132 square
metres of net exhibition space, representing an increase of 48%.
International presence
GENERA'09 consolidates its international vocation with a
growth in both number of foreign companies presenting their new
products and features in halls 7 and 9 of the Feria de Madrid, as well
as in the number of countries being represented. The international
exhibitors figure has risen to 171 companies originating from 18
countries including Italy, Germany, China, the Czech Republic, Greece,
Turkey, Austria, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom,
Switzerland, Poland, Belgium, Portugal, India, United States, Republic
of Korea and Slovenia and occupy, 4,586 square meters of exhibition
space, 30.4% of the total area.
One of the
sectors showing a three digit increase in exhibition presence is the
solar photovoltaics industry which shifts from 3,426.5 square metres
at the last edition to 7,171 square meters this year, an increase of
109.2% in net surface area and 47% of the total exhibition.
Cogeneration shows an increase of more than 41% to 1,086 square metres
and biomass by more than 40% growing to 600 square metres are just
some of the other sectors increasing their presence at the trade fair.
The companies
operating in the sector of hydraulic energy are also gaining weight at
GENERA'09. They have moved up from 28 square metres in 2008 to 219,
which represents an increase of 682.1%, but although their space has
grown in size, this sector still only represents 1.44% of the total
exhibition. Geothermics, gas, hydrogen and fuel cells will be the main
new products exhibiting at the Energy and Environment International
Trade Fair compared to previous editions.

Technical
workshops and Innovation Gallery
The fundamental
role of the Energy and Environment International Trade Fair as a trade
sector meeting point is strengthened by the traditional hosting of the
technical workshops that allow the creation of an open debate forum on
the future of the renewable energy market. Each participating
technology in the Spanish electrical generation system mix– wind, mini
wind, photovoltaic and thermal solar energy, concentration, nuclear
and biogas, among others- will have a specific session in which they
can address the medium term challenges the different 'clean energy'
industries are facing.
Ifema, in
collaboration with the representative associations of each energy
model (ASIF, AEE, COGEN AND ACOGEN, ASIT…) and entities (CIEMAT, IDAE)
integrated in the GENERA'09 organising committee, have initiated the
programming schedule of each of the technical workshops. The
conferences will address The new Spanish photovoltaic sector model,
New technologies in thermal production, the biogas potential
in Spain and the Realities, barriers and tools for the
efficient energy services in buildings and installations. The
association ATEGRUS will be holding a technical workshop on Bioenergy
which will run simultaneously alongside GENERA.
The
INNOVATION GALLERY will be taking place for the second year
running within the framework of GENERA'09. This
initiative has become an industry platform for presenting some of the
main lines of research currently being carried out by both public and
private companies. The main objective of this proposal is to foster
the development of renewable energies in the Spanish market,
transferring the technical developments achieved to both trade
visitors attending GENERA as well as to the end user.
The
INNOVATION GALLERY is opening its doors this year to the
scientific and professional community enabling them to present any
type of project without the necessity of being linked to the company
representing that sector at the trade fair. The only requirement to
present a candidacy is for the products or developments to have an
efficient application and to be market orientated. The period for
proposals ended on 30 January and the committee of experts in charge
of selecting the participating initiatives in this second edition will
be communicating its verdict at the beginning of March.
