The 2nd Annual "Biomass Finance & Investment Summit" To Bring Together Key Players From The Biomass Development and Financial Communities

January 12, 2009 (News Release)

Infocast’s 2nd Annual Biomass Finance & Investment Summit will be held at the Westin Colonnade Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida on January 26-28, 2009. Last year’s premiere edition was a solid success that not only garnered rave reviews from all levels of participants but confirmed that biomass is one of the few renewable industries that appears to be relatively immune from the nation’s recent economic downturn.

Summit Chairman, Christopher Groobey, a Partner at Baker & McKenzie, LLP, will oversee an event that brings together the key players from both the biomass development industry (POET, the Solena Group and Fortistar among others) as well as the financial community (Jefferies & Company, Morgan Keegan, New Energy Capital and TD Bank N.A., etc.) Other major participants at the event will include a variety of utilities committed to converting to biomass to power, including Dominion Resources, Inc., Sempra Utilities and Progress Energy, in addition to special presentations by John May, a Managing Director at Stern Brothers & Co. and Keith Martin, a Partner at Chadbourne & Parke, LLP.

A pre-Summit Biomass Technology Briefing will be lead by Chris Zygarlicke, the Deputy Associate Director for Research at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) on Monday, January 26 and will feature a series of highly-anticipated presentations on advanced biomass technologies currently under development. The faculty roster for the Technology Briefing boasts a “Who’s Who” of cutting-edge experts from the fields of solid waste to energy, biomass to power and biomass to fuel.

In addition to the previously announced Summit sponsors (Baker & McKenzie, Chadbourne & Parke, LLP, McGuire Woods, Stoel Rives and TD Bank, N.A.) five new sponsors have come on board, including Alston + Bird, LLP, ICP Capital, LLP, Troutman Sanders, Virchow, Krause & Company, and MWM of America. That corporate ballast coupled with a variety of media partners and supporting organizations along with an anticipated 50+ speakers, promises that the Summit will retain its status as an exceptional event.
