Canadian Pacific Railway testing use of biodiesel fuel

Nov. 30

Canadian Pacific Railway is testing the use of biodiesel fuel through a five-month pilot project involving four locomotives operating between Calgary and Edmonton.

The testing began in early November and will run through the end of March and is the first time biodiesel is being used in Canadian cold weather rail service, the company said.

"Rail is already the most efficient means to move goods long-haul," CEO Fred Green said. "This initiative positions CP to make a lasting impact by further reducing our network´s environmental footprint."
