Roberson Oil Co. ordered to stop discharging pollutants

Dec. 10

The Roberson Oil Co. of Ada, Okla., must stop discharging pollutants from its oil field in Pontotoc County, Okla., under a cease-and-desist order from the U.S. EPA

The EPA accused the company of violating the federal Clean Water Act after an Oct. 26 inspection of the oil field production facility. The EPA said it found an unauthorized discharge of oil field brine a tributary of Clear Boggy Creek. The EPA’s inspectors said water located at the discharge point of entry into the tributary of Clear Boggy Creek was also contaminated from brine discharges and salts.

The company must remove all brine and residual oil from creek within 30 days and provide certification of completion.
