US Gulf Coast spot gas prices continue rise on NYMEX rally

Houston (Platts)--20Jul2009

US Gulf Coast spot natural gas prices jumped double digits Monday,
following a similar surge Friday as cash prices follow the recent August NYMEX
gas futures contract rally.

Most points tacked on around 10 cents, despite relatively weak
fundamentals throughout the region.

Houston Ship Channel shot up more than 20 cents to average in the
mid-$3.50s/MMBtu on IntercontinentalExchange, a premium of nearly 10 cents to
the Katy Hub, which grabbed close to 15 cents. Texas Gas Transmission zone 1
was among the region's weakest, taking on less than 10 cents to remain at a
discount of a few cents to the Katy Hub.

Henry Hub gained about 10 cents to post a midpoint in the lower
$3.50s/MMBtu, more than 5 cents premium to Tennessee Gas Pipeline's 500 Leg,
which gained about the same.

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line zones 4 extended its premium to about 5
cents to Transco zone 3, up more than 15 cents to average in the upper
$3.50s/MMBtu.

Further east, Florida Gas Transmission zone 3 shared a 10-cent gain with
Southern Natural Gas of Louisiana, keeping in place the 10-cent spread there
with Florida zone 3 atop in the upper $3.50s/MMBtu.
