in the US

Spanish clean power company Iberdrola Renovables is consolidating its
position in the US by starting the construction of new wind farms in
Illinois, North Dakota and Oregon.
Work has begun on the Star Point facility in Oregon which will have
installed capacity of 98.7MW. This farm is in addition to the 149MW Rugby
wind farm in North Dakota and the 300MW Cayuga Ridge facility in Illinois,
on which the company has already begun construction.
These new wind farms bring the total amount of capacity under development by
Iberdrola Renovables in the US to 547.7MW. Once operational, these wind
farms are expected to avoid the emission of 180,000 tons of C02 and will
supply electricity to some 250,000 average US households per year.
The company has recently dedicated the Lempster wind farm in New Hampshire
with an installed capacity of 24MW to supply electricity to some 10,000 US
households per year.
The company, which is active in 20 states, has 34 wind farms in operation in
the US. As of March 31, 2009, Iberdrola Renovables's installed capacity in
the US totaled 3,031MW, or 31.4% of the Iberdrola Group's total 9,624MW
under operation.
