Groups urge Congress to adopt renewable standard

March 25

More than 220 groups are urging Congress to adopt a national renewable electricity standard to provide the long-term policy commitment that would attract billions of dollars of investments.

The 226 companies and organizations have signed a letter pushing for legislation introduced in both the House and Senate that would require utilities in all states to generate at least 25% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2025.

"A national renewable electricity standard is one of the most important steps we can take to encourage businesses to invest in clean energy and create thousands of new jobs right in the in the U.S.," said Denise Bode, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association.
