Sen. committee passes Water Infrastructure Financing Act

May 18

The U.S. Senate environment committee has passed the Water Infrastructure Financing Act, which will provide additional funding for wastewater and drinking water projects across the country.

The bill passed with bipartisan support and provides additional money for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. The measure would increase the Clean Water fund to $20 billion over five years and the Drinking Water fund to $14.7 billion over five years.

The funds provide low interest loans to communities upgrading wastewater and drinking water infrastructure.
