Canada-based Gold Hawk Resources said Monday its Peru subsidiary, Compania Minera San Juan, has received a final approval from the mines ministry of a key environmental hurdle toward restating the Coricancha mine. The Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines has given notice of final approval of the modification of the company's environmental impact assessment to include the new tailings handling area at Chinchan and the tailings transfer system.

"The approval of the modified EIA, which includes the new tailings facility at Chinchan, is another major achievement as Gold Hawk makes steps towards re-starting the Coricancha Mine," said Kevin Drover, Gold Hawk's president and CEO. "A fully permitted tailings facility is one of the last critical steps in the process of re-starting mining operations and the tireless efforts of our team in Peru have helped us clear another hurdle," said Drover.

Gold Hawk is a Canadian precious metals exploration company which owns reserves and resources containing gold, silver, lead, zinc and copper, as well as the near-term poduction project at the Coricancha Mine and 600 mt/day ore processing facility, located 90 km east of Lima, Peru. The company has all of the permits required for the re-start of the mine, Gold Hawk said.
