Select Cracker Barrels to install electric vehicle chargers

Dec. 1 -- A familiar site along many interstates is launching a new pilot project to install electric vehicle chargers.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is installing the chargers at select restaurant locations across Tennessee and is becoming a participant in the EV Project, an initiative to increase adoption of electric vehicles by creating a charging infrastructure.

The EV Project is managed by ECOtality, which is providing the electric chargers to the Cracker Barrel locations.

"Becoming a leader in The EV Project continues our tradition of striving to anticipate and meet our guests´ expectations and, at the same time, allows us to participate in a meaningful way in the nation´s explorations of energy independence," CEO Michael A. Woodhouse said.

A total of 24 chargers will be installed along "The Tennessee Triangle," a 425 mile stretch of highway that connects Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga. The work will begin in the spring and will be completed in a few months, Cracker Barrel said.
