Company, firm plan
commercial-scale biodiesel plant
A biodiesel company and a chemical firm are planning a commercial-scale plant to produce biodiesel from paper-industry waste, algae oil and used frying oil in addition to more expensive, traditional feedstock. Sacthleben, a division of international chemicals company Rockwood Holdings, is working with Augsburg College and biodiesel producer Ever Cat Fuels LLC on designing the pilot plant near Minneapolis. The company officials said the new process featured in the plant shifts biodiesel production away from crops used for food sources to fat-containing waste products, and simplifies the production process.
