Some leakage detected in BP well capping stack: Allen

Houston (Platts)--19Jul2010/531 pm EDT/2131 GMT

BP has been approved for another 24 hours of testing on its temporarily capped Macondo oil well extending into Tuesday, US National Incident Commander Thad Allen said Monday afternoon. Allen also said it appears seepage from the seabed floor in the Gulf of Mexico about a mile from the well blowout site is not related to the testing of the well capping or to Macondo itself, but he said monitoring of that seepage will continue. He also warned that engineers have found a small leak in the Macondo sealing cap caused by hydrate formation, but they do not consider it consequential.
