U.S. consumption of recovered paper increases 6%

U.S. consumption of recovered paper was 2.6 million tons, a 6% increase over June 2009 numbers, according to the American Forest & Paper Association.

June´s consumption was "essentially flat" compared to that of May 2010, the Washington, D.C.-based trade group said. But U.S. consumption was 8.2% more in the first 6 months of 2010 than during the same period in 2009.

Exports of recovered paper were down 2.5% in May compared the April, AF&PA also reported. Recovered paper exports during the first six months of this year are flat compared to the first half of last year.
