The US and Chinese governments began a renewable energy partnership in Beijing by signing eight government and corporation-level agreements covering five fields.

A report cited China's top energy official Zhang Guobao as saying the US has obvious advantages in research and development and industrialization and China has the fastest-growing energy market.

The report also said the partnership aims to advance large-scale production and industrialization of renewable energy.
The two governments will set up a general target and a policy framework for renewable energy, the report said.
