Reports says 700,000
electric vehicles sold last year
A new report estimates that about 700,000 electric vehicles were sold around the world last year. Of that total, the vast majority were electric-hybrid models, according to MarketResearch.com, which released the report "Electric Vehicle (EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) Markets Worldwide." Electric vehicles accounted for 1.5% of the passenger vehicle market in 2009 and almost 8% of the passenger vehicle market in Japan, according to the report.
