Okla. companies ordered to stop polluting
waterways
April 30
Two companies in Oklahoma are facing administrative orders to stop
polluting nearby waterways with oil field brine, according to the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency.
The EPA said unauthorized oil field brine and wastewater discharges were
found at oil fields operated by the Territory Resources company of
Stillwater, Okla., and the Garry Davis Oil company of Tonkawa, Okla.
Brine and wastewater discharges from Territory Resources´ facilities in
Noble County and Kay County were discharging into the Birds Nest Creek,
while the Kay County facility operated by the Garry Davis Oil company
was found to be discharging pollutants into the Chikaskia River.
Both companies were given 30 days to provide certification that the
polluting discharges had ceased and the brine and contaminated soils had
been removed.
