Recovered paper consumption increases 8% in Sept.

Oct. 25

Consumption of recovered paper increased by 8% during September compared to the previous September, according to the American Forest & Paper Association.

However, the September amount was 3% lower than what was consumed in August, the trade group said.

Overall, the United States has consumed 9% more recovered paper during the first nine months of this year compared to the same period in 2009, the AF&PA said.

The group also tracks exports of recovered paper and reported those shipments were down 3% in August compared to July. Year-to-date exports through August are 2% lower than the same period last year.
