The country can save up to 10 percent energy by using geothermal energy for heating and cooling of buildings, which can be used for industrial sector in future. Founder Chairman Energy Foundation Pakistan & Energy Economist, Javed Ahmad said that, the energy explorationist environmentalist and having 45 years of professional experience in oil, gas, coal , mineral and renewable energy sectors. He said gas is abundantly being used for heating and cooling of buildings and hot water supplies, which is shear wastage of our precious gas resources.

We should use geothermal earth energy, which is abundantly available all over the country and is a free, renewable, reliable and sustainable sources for heating, cooling of any building and supply of hot water.

Javed Ahmad said geothermal energy is fastly growing all over the world and has been established a reliable, cost effective and most energy efficient air-conditioning system available in the world.

The geo-thermal technology uses no oil, gas or coal for heating and cooling and saves up to 70 percent energy as compared to conventional heating and cooling systems.

The system improves indoor air quality and prevents diseases like asthma, heart and respiratory problems, depression, fatigue , skin and eyes infection, he said.

He said geothermal energy resources in Northern Areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir could provide district and domestic heating and also use for power generation and as a heating source for many industries.

Javed Ahmad said there is need to implement a crash program for the conservation of energy and promote the use of renewable energy resources like geothermal, biogas, wind, solar, hydropower and ban the use of gas for heating an cooling of building in future.

To start with, Islamabad should be declared as a green city and start using geothermal energy in public buildings and foreign missions and solar power for lighting to reduce green house gas emissions to protect the environment.

He said spending one billion dollars every year on the development of renewable energy resources, recycling of waste energy and on the exploration and development of our indigenous oil and gas resources by using latest technique in the country.
