I wanted to get in touch regarding the waste problems facing North America at present.
It’s no secret that disposal of municipal solid waste is a problem in North America, particularly on the East Coast and near urban conurbations.

Alternatives to straight landfilling are abundant but how viable are they commercially? Landfill gas to energy, waste to energy, anaerobic digestion, Gas plasma and waste to biofuels are all moving forward. The question is how we overcome the obstacles to make this happen on a large scale whilst maintaining valuable profit margins and healthy balance sheets.

With state support in place through various channels, there is no question that the USA is ultimately powering towards a zero waste policy. So the key considerations are:

  • Which technology to use
  • How to get this technology working on a commercial scale as soon as possible
  • How to develop the necessary infrastructure both physically and procedurally
