New Power Outage Map Goes Live

DALLAS, April 2, 2012 /PRNewswire

After much preparation to prove its capability, Oncor is launching a new interactive outage map in order to give customers what they've asked for - more information about power outages during storms. The new, enhanced outage map pinpoints the loss of power down to a customer's neighborhood. Interactive real-time outage information is available through this map either online or on your mobile device 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Through focus groups and survey feedback, Oncor customers have told us they want more information," Oncor Chief Customer Officer Brenda Jackson said. "The new map adds transparency about our business and improves the customer experience through up-to-date outage information, including estimated time of restoration when available to help customers plan to safely await restoration."

Searchable by county or even zip code, known outages are now contextualized to include the number of customers affected, the date and time issues are first reported and - when known - even the cause. Customers also enjoy an improved mapping display and the ability to see weather overlays to track issues impacting the power grid.

Oncor also recently enhanced the mobile version of Oncor.com for customers in need of information from their smart phones or tablets. Oncor's new mobile-friendly design makes it easy for customers to access the outage map, report power issues, request service and call the Ask Oncor hotline.

"We are very excited for customers to have this new tool in their hands," Jackson said. "This is only the beginning in a series of initiatives in the works to keep our customers as informed as possible."

The enhanced map is accessible by clicking Power Restoration from the Oncor.com website or clicking Outage Map from the Oncor.com mobile site.
