Duck River Electric Membership Cooperative (DREMC) has become the first electric cooperative in the seven state TVA territory to offer its nearly 71,000 customers access to green power with a 25.92 kW solar farm.
For $600, customers can obtain one unit of ownership and will receive an energy credit monthly until their ownership ends. These investors also receive premium pricing offered by TVA through the Generation Partners Program to help offset their original investment. DREMC provide financing for up to one year. "Many people don't want to incur the cost of home solar installation or their location isn't ideal for solar because of their home design or an abundance of shade trees in the yard," said Jim Allison, President and Chief Executive Officer of DREMC. "This allows our members to participate in solar energy sustainability efforts at a fraction of the cost of installing their own system." For more: © 2012 FierceMarkets.
