FedEx increases recycling rate, report says![]()
FedEx Corp. recycled 47.9 million pounds of the material generated at its facilities last year, according to the company's 2011 Global Citizenship Report. In 2010, the parcel delivery company recycled 41.5 million pounds. Last year, FedEx's office locations recycled more than 5 million pounds of paper, diverting almost 8,000 cubic yards from landfills. "At FedEx, we've found opportunities to extend the useful life of a number of materials we use at our business through recycling programs," according to the report. "These efforts help divert millions of pounds from landfills." Since 2007, the company's Ground Green program has recycled 65.1 million pounds of paper, cardboard, metal and plastic. During that time, FedEx's Dallas headquarters has recycled more than 100 tons of materials.
