Washington (Platts)--8Aug2012/352 pm EDT/1952 GMT
US utilities generated 94,049 GWh in the week ended August 4, down 3%
from 96,929 GWh generated in the corresponding week of 2011, the Edison
Electric Institute said Wednesday.
The weekly total was 214 GWh below the 94,263 GWh total posted in the
week ended July 28, EEI said.
Output fell in eight of the nine regions EEI assesses, with the largest
percentage decrease in the Central Industrial region, where output slid
6.2% to 15,978 GWh. The West Central region had the second-largest
percentage slide, 4.4%, to 8,243 GWh.
Utility generation in the year-to-date period was nearly 2.4 million
GWh, down 2.3% from nearly 2.46 million GWh in the same period of 2011,
EEI said.
The numbers are based on generation from investor-owned utilities,
cooperatives and government-owned utilities.
