Nation's largest digester to open Dec. 14

Clean World Partners will open its Sacramento Biodigester Dec. 14. The facility will convert 25 tons per day of food waste and organic materials collected by Atlas Disposal from area businesses into fuel, according to a Clean World news release.

The system is initially designed to convert 10,000 tons of waste per year; a planned January 2013 upgrade will boost that amount to 40,000 tons per year, making it the largest commercial high solids waste-to-energy system in the United States, according to the company.
