Group may sue over trash washing into Alabama river

Feb. 24 – The Dog River Clearwater Revival environmental group plans to sue the city of Mobile, Ala., and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management because the river fills with garbage whenever it rains.

The group, alleging repeated violations of the Clean Water Act, filed a notice of its intent to sue the city on Feb. 22, according to the Associated Press.

The group said the city and ADEM have been ignoring the run-off issue for at least five years, the AP reported.

To solve the problem, the group wants the city to remove the garbage washing from city streets into the river.
