The Benefits of Living Food

As I look out my office window, there isn't a green anything in sight. There's brown stubble covering the yard, bare skeletal tree limbs reaching for a gray sky, brown rain-soaked dirt lying submerged beneath entangled veins of dead weeds, and a winter chill permeating my bones.

The world seems not just hibernating, but lifeless. And this lifeless feeling is a major drag on my productivity, my ability to get out and do things, and on my desire to get up and move around. In fact, it's recognized by doctors that the wintertime brings about its own malady called "Seasonal Affected Disorder" which includes symptoms of sleeping too much, having little energy, and maybe even feeling depressed.

While I don't have a SAD disorder, I can feel the difference in my physical and mental well-being during the wintertime. I see the dried up shriveled world and think how much I want the lushness of green things growing to remind me of life, and abundant life at that! I want the crunch of fresh veggies to go along with my sandwiches, to toss into my salads, and to bake bread from. I want the vitality and energy that comes from eating food grown by my own two hands.

In fact, I find that during the wintertime I need even more help from vitamin and herbal supplements to keep me going. In addition, the grayness of the days doesn't inspire me to get out and exercise. There's no grass that needs cutting, there's no garden to weed, and the only thing I want to do is curl up in a cozy blanket and try to keep warm. Just attempting to read a book is a mental exercise in futility!

Many of the self-help remedies for these wintertime blahs include plenty of amino acids, the full spectrum of B vitamins, and vitamin D as well. But those rock-hard, multivitamin and mineral tablets are not the answer to your nutritional needs. You see, during the vitamin-making process, both extreme heat and intense pressure are used to pack all the vitamins and minerals into a hard pill. This process effectively kills any of the living enzymes, phytonutrients, and probiotics you would otherwise get.

The truth is many researchers now believe that "dead" vitamins and minerals may not be enough to keep you and your family in good health under normal circumstances, let alone crisis conditions. In fact, if you don't ingest living nutrients, you may be gambling with your health.

So where do you get "living" food when it's the dead of winter? With sprouts, of course!

If you've never heard of sprouting before, or you're only vaguely familiar with the concept, sprouts are the green shoots that emerge from newly germinated seeds, and they are little "powerhouses" of living vitamins and minerals. You see, sprouts have the living enzymes, phytonutrients, and bio-available vitamins that only fresh greens can give you. Just a cup or two of sprouts per day can provide you with all the necessary vitamins and minerals you need to support your immune system and provide you with a much-needed source of plant fiber to keep your digestive system running in tip-top shape.

The health benefits of "living food" cannot be overstated. For example, alfalfa is one of the most commonly sprouted seed, and it's believed to be the most nutritious food in the world. Once those roots begin to emerge, those alfalfa sprouts are full of protein, chlorophyll, calcium, potassium, and vitamins A and K.

Just eating two and a half ounces of broccoli sprouts inhibits the growth of prostate cancer for up to six hours after ingestion. Two ounces of broccoli sprouts a day appears to eradicate H. pylori infections, the ones that cause ulcers, in as little as seven days.

An Italian study found that sprouted legumes play a significant role in preventing arthritis, building bone density, and reducing the risk of breast and prostate cancers, hardening of the arteries, and stroke.

The whole sprouting thing is so easy, and within 3 to 7 days, you'll have edible greens that will infuse your body with all the vitamins, minerals, enzymes, phytonutrients, proteins, and amino acids that your body can stand. If you can rake enough stuff off of a kitchen counter, a coffee or end table, or anywhere else for that matter, you can grow your own nutritionally dense foods. You'll need the appropriate seed, a Mason jar, a mesh lid for the jar, and water.

If you're like me however, you like to start small before jumping head first into any new venture--in this case, the sprouting pool, so to speak. Well, Solutions From Science has listened to their customers and has come out with a new product--the Sprout Sampler Kit.

The Sprout Sampler Kit contains all the varieties of seed that their larger Survival Sprout Bank does, but it's been downsized for those folks who would like to try their hand at sprouting first. It's also good for those who are single and live alone, or in those households where the children have moved out and it's only mom and dad left. It's also the perfect choice for those college kids who might only live on pizza and fast foods.

You'll receive the following in your Sprout Sampler Kit:

  • One 1/2 gallon wide-mouth glass jar (for sprouting seeds)
  • One sprout jar lid (so you can drain out the water in the sprouts)
  • One pack each of the following...
    • Wheat
    • Green Lentils
    • Fenugreek
    • Green Peas
    • Black-eyed Peas
    • Radishes
    • Alfalfa
    • Mung Beans
    • Garbanzo Beans
    • Broccoli

Sprouts are truly God's "superfood." And because sprouting increases the seed volume by up to six times the original seed, your sprouts will give you plentiful nutrition with just four tablespoons of seed to a jar. They're available 24/7, anytime you want a snack. You can eat them straight from the jar, mix them into salads, use them to replace lettuce in sandwiches, or even bake sprout bread with them. And all the while you're doing this, you're helping your body nutritionally to fight those winter doldrums.

The Sprout Sampler Kit not only includes ten of the most nutritionally dense sprout seeds, it's also at an affordable price as well. This $60 value is being offered to our subscribers for $39.95, plus shipping and handling. With this Sprout Sampler Kit, you'll be able to try out the different sprout seeds to see which ones you like the best before ordering larger quantities.

And when you do decide to reorder, there's a 10% off coupon included in the Sprout Sampler Kit to help defray some of the cost! So rake off a kitchen counter, a coffee table, or an end table, and get started growing some "live" nutrition to beat those pesky winter blues. Click here to order your Sprout Sampler Kit today.
