It's Our Fault Because We Allowed It

They come in a variety of colors. They can be from red or blue camps, male or female, dumb as a sack of rocks or MENSA candidates. They may come to the arena with the best of intentions, the highest ideals, and the loftiest goals.

What remains will be consumed with a putridness of spirit that can be the only result in a quest for unbridled power.

And it's our fault because we have allowed it. We have placed our trust for so many years in the ideals of the Republic that we have forgotten that ordinary men and women occupy the offices. Today our freedoms are taken away with the stroke of a pen.

Tomorrow it will be at the barrel of a gun.
